Indiana IEA Provides Press Release to Members Following Fulton County CO Tragedy to Help Boost Radon Awareness
The Indiana Chapter of the Indoor Environments Association has issued a statewide press release to our members in response to the recent carbon monoxide–related deaths in Fulton County. This tragic event has reminded many Hoosiers of the dangers posed by invisible household gases. Our chapter saw an important opportunity—especially during the final days of National Radon Action Month—to ensure that radon awareness remains at the forefront of public conversation.
The press release provided to members highlights the parallels between carbon monoxide and radon: both are colorless, odorless gases that can be deadly when undetected. It also includes a key statistic from the 2025 Indiana Radon Report Card: nearly 1,000 lung cancer cases in Indiana each year are caused by radon exposure.
Our intent is to equip Indiana radon, mitigation, indoor air quality, and environmental health professionals with ready-to-use messaging that supports public education across the state. Members are encouraged to share the press release with their local media contacts, community partners, and social channels to help strengthen radon outreach in their regions.
This effort reflects our chapter’s commitment to advancing indoor environmental health and supporting the professionals who serve Indiana communities every day.
